Abstract
Aug.13, 1862 - S[amuel] C. Pomeroy, Washington, to Cassius M. Clay, dated Aug. 13, 1862. ALS, 3 pp. (1 folio pc.)
Pomeroy writes that "it's no time for wordsn and states the following: "we want you to take a command west of the Mississippi River! And all west of it" He implores Clay, telling him that "he must not return to Europe! "
